Plots and independent floors in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh are often advertised in square yards, marla or kanal rather than square feet. The same unit name can mean slightly different areas in different places, so always ask for the exact area in square feet or square yards.
Convert every offer to a single unit and then divide the price by it. A plot that looks cheaper per marla can turn out to be dearer per square foot once the real size is clear.
Check that the plot is in an approved layout, that the road width and facing match the brochure, and that the registry, or sale deed, states the same area as the advertisement.
